Miguel Albuquerque, President of Madeira's Regional Government, is actively working to secure the release of two Madeiran descendants imprisoned in Venezuela.

In a determined effort to support the Madeiran diaspora, Miguel Albuquerque, the President of Madeira's Regional Government, has pledged his commitment to the release of two individuals of Madeiran descent currently detained in Venezuela.

The announcement was made following a meeting at the Palácio do Governo, where Sancho Gomes, the Director of Communities and External Cooperation, confirmed Albuquerque's proactive steps. Albuquerque plans to correspond with both the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Ambassador in Lisbon to expedite the process.

This initiative underscores the regional government's dedication to its citizens abroad, illustrating a broader commitment to the welfare and rights of Madeirans globally. The move also highlights the geopolitical ties between Portugal, the United States, and Venezuela, emphasizing the collaborative efforts necessary to resolve such diplomatic issues.

Madeira, a picturesque island known for its rich culture and vibrant tourism, maintains strong connections with its diaspora, particularly those in Venezuela, home to a significant number of Madeiran emigrants. Albuquerque's intervention is a vital step in reinforcing these bonds and addressing the concerns of Madeiran families affected by such international incidents.
