Traffic Accident in Funchal
On January 12, 2026, a traffic accident took place on Rua Bela Santiago in Funchal, involving two cars. A 51-year-old man sustained injuries, particularly experiencing pain in the cervical area. He was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.
Car Fire in Santa Quitéria
Earlier that day, the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal were called to Caminho de Santa Quitéria to deal with a car fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the flames, necessitating the presence of three firefighting units to control the situation.
Aggressive Dog in Monte
In another incident, a pitbull was reported to be behaving aggressively on the public streets in the area of Tanque, Monte. The alert was raised by a postal worker, and while the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses were dispatched to the scene, they were unable to capture the animal.
Sports Injuries at Francisco Franco Pavilion
The previous day, the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses responded to two separate incidents at Francisco Franco Pavilion. A foreign female athlete, aged 24, suffered an ankle injury during a game, while a 17-year-old foreign male athlete sustained a chest injury that affected his breathing. Both were transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
