André Ventura achieved a narrow victory in the Porto Moniz presidential elections, edging out António José Seguro by just eight votes.

In a tightly contested race, André Ventura emerged victorious in the presidential elections held in the municipality of Porto Moniz, Madeira. Ventura secured 29.07% of the votes, amounting to 482 votes, narrowly defeating António José Seguro, who garnered 474 votes, a mere eight-vote difference.

This election, held on January 18, 2026, saw a competitive field of candidates. Luís Marques Mendes finished third with 22.14% (367 votes), while João Cotrim de Figueiredo and Henrique Gouveia e Melo received 8.08% (134 votes) and 102 votes respectively.

The close race highlights the political diversity and engagement in Porto Moniz, a picturesque municipality on Madeira Island known for its natural pools and stunning coastal views. In another significant result from the same election day, Ventura also led in the municipality of Machico, securing 32.88% of the votes, once again showing his strong influence in Madeira's political sphere.
