He was immobilized and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.

Shortly thereafter, a second accident was reported in São Martinho, in the direction of Funchal-Câmara de Lobos. This involved a collision between a motorcycle and a car. A 70-year-old woman in the car experienced a severe anxiety attack and was also taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça by the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal.
