Community Mourns the Loss of Three Respected Residents in Madeira

The Madeira community is currently mourning the loss of three respected individuals, each of whom played significant roles in their respective areas. Eduardo Fernandes, Maria Celina de Sousa, and Maria Paixão dos Santos, all beloved by their families and communities, have recently passed away. Their funerals are set to take place over the next few days, allowing loved ones to pay their respects.

Eduardo Fernandes, a well-known resident of Estrada Monumental, São Martinho, Funchal, passed away on June 9, 2026. His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, starting from the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça at 9:00 AM. The ceremony will continue at the chapel of the Nossa Senhora das Angústias cemetery, where a mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, followed by cremation.

Maria Celina de Sousa, a cherished member of the São Martinho community, died on June 9, 2026. Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The procession will leave from Hospital Dr. João de Almada at 11:45 AM to the chapel of Nossa Senhora das Angústias cemetery, with a mass at 12:30 PM, followed by cremation. Her family extends gratitude to the medical staff at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça and Hospital Dr. João de Almada for their compassionate care.

Maria Paixão dos Santos, from Caminho do Terro Negro, Serra de Água, passed away on June 8, 2026.
