Porto Santo and Calheta Celebrate Anniversaries with Successful Health Programs

The municipalities of Porto Santo and Calheta recently celebrated their anniversaries, marking 191 and 524 years, respectively, with a positive assessment of their community health program participation. These programs, spearheaded by the Regional Government of Madeira, have seen significant engagement from residents, enhancing the overall health and well-being of these communities.
In Porto Santo, more than 370 residents have benefited from the support initiatives provided by the Instituto de Administração da Saúde, IP-RAM. The 'Kit Bebé' program has been particularly impactful, supporting over 260 families, which accounts for approximately 72% of all beneficiaries. Other programs like '+Visão', which focuses on vision care, benefited around 16% of the supported residents, while the '+Sorriso' program, aimed at oral health, accounted for about 5%.
The impact in Calheta has been even more substantial, with over 1,000 residents benefiting from these health initiatives. The 'Kit Bebé' program supported more than 430 families, while '+Visão' reached over 160 children and young people aged between 0 and 14. Additionally, more than 110 children and teenagers aged 10 to 16 benefited from the '+Sorriso' program. For the senior population, over 300 individuals received support for acquiring prescription glasses through '+Visão'.
Despite the geographical differences, both Porto Santo and Calheta share a common goal: investing in health as a pivotal element for the future well-being of their communities. These initiatives, focusing on natality, vision, and oral health, have consistently contributed to improving the quality of life for the local population.
