Tour Boat Capsizes at Quinta do Lorde
A 76-year-old tourist was injured after a tour boat capsized due to strong waves at the Marina da Quinta do Lorde in Caniçal. The Municipal Fire Brigade of Machico quickly responded, and the tourist was taken to the Machico Health Center for treatment.
Pedestrian Incidents Raise Alarm
Two separate pedestrian-related incidents added to the day’s chaos. Near the Mercado dos Lavradores, a German tourist in her 60s was struck by a motorcycle while crossing a pedestrian lane. She sustained abrasions and was hospitalized at the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
Meanwhile, in a parking lot at the end of the Ponta de São Lourenço road, a 62-year-old French tourist fell, potentially fracturing her arm. She was also transported to the Machico Health Center for urgent care.
