Madeira Embroidery Shines at Portugal's Real Estate Show

The Madeira Embroidery, a hallmark of the island's cultural heritage, is being prominently featured at the Portugal Real Estate Show, taking place from April 23 to 25 at the International Fair of Lisbon. Organized by the Regional Government through the Institute of Wine, Embroidery, and Handicrafts of Madeira (IVBAM), this initiative aims to emphasize the versatility and elegance of Madeira Embroidery in modern home decor.

INVEST Madeira extended an invitation to IVBAM to participate in this prestigious event, allowing the traditional craft to be integrated into contemporary settings, as part of the 'Decore with Madeira Embroidery' exhibition. This display includes a variety of pieces from bath, bed, and table collections, showcasing the adaptability of the embroidery in diverse home environments.

The exhibition also highlights collaborations with notable partners such as Vista Alegre, which contributes to the dialogue between tradition and modern design with its decorative pieces. In addition, several Madeira embroidery operators, including Abreu&Araújo, Bordal, Gês Bordados, and Luís de Sousa, are present, offering visitors personalized insights into their collections.

A unique feature of this year's exhibition is the live demonstration by local artisans, such as Catarina Jesus and Firmina Abreu, who will exhibit the intricate art of Madeira Embroidery, providing an interactive experience for attendees. Visitors are encouraged to engage and try their hand at this traditional craft, deepening their appreciation for its cultural value.

Alongside the embroidery, the renowned Madeira Wine will also be available for tasting, further enriching the cultural experience over the three-day event.
