This weekend, the prestigious Portugal Real Estate Fair in Lisbon will spotlight one of Madeira's most cherished cultural treasures: the Madeira Embroidery. From April 23 to 25, the Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira (IVBAM), in collaboration with INVEST Madeira, will showcase the elegance and versatility of this traditional craft.
The exhibition titled "Decorate with Madeira Embroidery" will feature a variety of exquisite pieces from their bath, bed, and table collections. These items demonstrate the embroidery's adaptability to modern interior design while preserving its cultural significance.
In a unique partnership, the renowned Portuguese porcelain brand Vista Alegre will join the IVBAM at the fair, displaying pieces that highlight the harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary design.
The event will also offer interactive experiences with live demonstrations by artisans like Firmina Abreu, allowing visitors to engage directly with the art of Madeira Embroidery. Additional features include contributions from local embroidery operators such as Abreu&AraĂşjo, Bordal, and GĂŞs Bordados, who will present their collections to the public.
Furthermore, the fair will not only focus on embroidery but also feature the acclaimed Madeira Wine, offering a taste of the island’s rich culinary heritage throughout the event.
Through these efforts, the IVBAM aims to protect and promote the Madeira Embroidery, a symbol of the island's cultural identity and a significant part of its artisanal heritage.
