On the 12th and 13th of April, Madeira's emergency services responded to various incidents, including rescues and unfortunate fatalities, highlighting the critical role of local fire brigades in ensuring public safety.

Madeira's emergency services have had a busy couple of days responding to a series of incidents across the island. On April 13th, the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to a unique rescue operation in Monte. A cat had been stranded on an electricity pole on Estrada do Corujeira, unable to descend. The firefighters successfully rescued the animal using a ladder truck, ensuring the safety of the local pet and preventing any potential electrical hazards.

In a separate incident on the same day, the Volunteer Firefighters were called to Rua da Carne Azeda in Funchal following an assault. A man in his sixties sustained facial injuries and was promptly transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment. The reasons behind the assault remain under investigation by local authorities.

Tragically, the island also witnessed two fatalities. On April 13th, the Municipal Firefighters of Machico responded to a call on Estrada Dom Manuel I, where an elderly man, in his eighties, was found deceased in his residence. Earlier, on April 12th, the Volunteer Firefighters of Câmara de Lobos discovered the body of an elderly woman in her home on Ribeira da Alforra. In both cases, emergency responders confirmed that nothing could be done to save the individuals.

These incidents underscore the essential services provided by Madeira's fire brigades, who not only handle emergencies involving fires but also play a crucial role in community safety through rescue operations and emergency medical assistance.
