Deadline Extended for Proposals on Madeira's New Hospital Project
Madeira GuideThe deadline for proposals in the crucial third phase of Madeira's new hospital project has been extended by 44 days, giving construction firms more time to prepare.
In an important development for Madeira's healthcare infrastructure, the Secretaria Regional de Equipamentos e Infraestruturas (SREI) has announced an extension of 44 days for the submission of proposals related to the third phase of the Hospital Central e Universitário da Madeira project. This phase focuses on general infrastructure, finishing works, and technical installations.
The new deadline is set for April 29, replacing the previously planned date of March 16. This extension was granted following requests from the competing consortia, who cited the technical complexity of the project and the need for specialized consultations, some of which are international.
By allowing additional time, SREI aims to enhance the quality and competitiveness of the bids, ensuring that the project meets high standards. The decision to extend the deadline aligns with provisions in the Código dos Contratos Públicos, which allows for such measures under certain circumstances.
Earlier this year, in February, five consortia were shortlisted through a limited tender process with prior qualification. These consortia, consisting of major construction companies such as Tecnovia Madeira and MOTA-ENGIL, have been invited to submit their proposals in this final stage.
This extension is seen as a positive step towards ensuring a competitive and quality-driven approach to completing one of Madeira's most significant healthcare projects, which aims to serve both residents and the island's many visitors.
