The president of CDS-PP Madeira, José Manuel Rodrigues, has once again highlighted the urgent need for establishing a Therapeutic Community in Madeira. This initiative, which Rodrigues has championed for over three decades, is becoming increasingly critical given the current drug addiction challenges facing local communities.
The announcement was made following Rodrigues' visit to the São João de Deus Health House, marking the conclusion of a 45-day tour of various mental health institutions organized by the Juventude Popular with party support. The tour aimed to bring attention to the growing mental health and addiction issues exacerbated by modern life's pressures and technology's adverse effects.
Rodrigues expressed particular concern over the use of new psychoactive substances like Bloom, which are increasingly popular among the youth. He emphasized the necessity of a dedicated therapeutic structure to combat these emerging drug problems and pledged to continue advocating for this cause with the Regional Government.
In addition to the therapeutic community initiative, the CDS-PP Madeira plans to engage with several institutions to promote legislation on 'protected employment.' This proposal aims to facilitate the social reintegration of individuals leaving mental health institutions by allowing them to work part-time with public incentives.
