José Manuel Rodrigues, speaking at the conclusion of a 45-day series of visits to various mental health institutions, highlighted the exacerbating factors such as the competitive nature of modern society and the adverse effects of new technologies, which are contributing to rising mental health issues and substance dependencies, particularly among the youth.
The call to action comes with a specific focus on the alarming rise in the use of new psychoactive substances, such as Bloom, which has seen increased usage among young people in the region. Rodrigues stressed the urgent need for a dedicated therapeutic structure to tackle these challenges, underscoring the CDS-PP Madeira's commitment to lobbying the Regional Government for support.
Additionally, the party has announced plans to engage with local institutions to promote legislation aimed at supporting the social reintegration of individuals leaving therapeutic facilities. This includes initiatives for 'protected employment,' designed to help former patients reintegrate into the workforce with public incentives.
