Celestino José de Castro: A Life Remembered

Celestino José de Castro, a well-regarded resident of Porto Moniz, passed away on May 31, 2026. Known for his warm personality and community involvement, his funeral procession will commence from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, proceeding to the parish church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Vila, Porto Moniz. A mass will be held at 16:00, followed by burial in the local cemetery.

Honoring António Francisco de Abreu

António Francisco de Abreu, a beloved figure from Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, will be remembered in a service at the parish church of Nossa Senhora da Graça. Scheduled for June 1, 2026, the ceremony begins with a procession from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça at 10:00, followed by a mass at 11:00. His remains will be cremated at the cemetery of Nossa Senhora das Angústias.

Tribute to Maria Lurdes da Corte Macedo Sousa

Maria Lurdes da Corte Macedo Sousa, a resident of Rua Pico São João, São Pedro, Funchal, was known for her vibrant spirit. Her funeral is set for May 31, 2026, with services starting at 14:00 from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, heading to the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Apresentação in Ribeira Brava. A mass at 15:00 will precede her burial.

Remembering Manuel de Abreu Rodrigues

The community of Ribeira Brava bids farewell to Manuel de Abreu Rodrigues, whose contributions to local life were significant. His funeral will take place on May 31, 2026, with a procession from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça at 10:45 to the parish church of São Paulo. A mass at 11:45 will be followed by internment in São Paulo Cemetery.
