The annual celebration of Madeira's famous fortified wine will take place in September with expanded events across Funchal and Câmara de Lobos.

Wine lovers, mark your calendars! The 2025 Madeira Wine Festival has been officially announced, promising to be the biggest and most spectacular celebration of the island's liquid gold yet. From September 1st to September 14th, Funchal and the picturesque fishing village of Câmara de Lobos will transform into a vibrant celebration of viticulture.

Five Centuries of Winemaking Excellence

Madeira wine has been produced on the island for over 500 years, earning a reputation as one of the world's finest fortified wines. The unique aging process, which involves heating the wine in estufas or naturally in warm attics, creates the distinctive caramel and nutty flavors that Madeira is famous for.

The festival celebrates this rich heritage with a program that includes traditional grape harvesting demonstrations, wine tastings from all major producers, and the spectacular 'Festa das Vindimas' harvest parade.

New for 2025

This year's festival introduces several exciting new elements. A dedicated 'Wine Route' will connect key venues with free shuttle buses, making it easier than ever to explore the various tasting events. The festival will also feature its first international wine symposium, bringing together experts from around the world.

We want to share our passion for Madeira wine with visitors from every corner of the globe. This festival is a celebration of our traditions and our future.
