Construction Accident in Funchal

On February 3, 2026, a serious accident occurred in Funchal's Rua Vale da Ajuda. A construction worker in his 30s was severely injured after being struck by multiple bags of cement. The incident left him unconscious, necessitating immediate medical attention. The worker was swiftly transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where he remains under critical care.

Pedestrian Accident in Downtown Funchal

Earlier the same day, another incident involved a couple in their 70s who were hit by a public transport bus near the Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira. The accident occurred when the open rear door of the bus collided with the couple, causing injuries. Emergency services, including the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters and EMIR, quickly responded, and the couple was taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment.
