In the early hours of January 16, 2026, a 32-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle crash on Rua da Casa Branca. The accident occurred around 3:50 AM, and the man sustained a suspected leg fracture and abrasions. He was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.

Pedestrian Accident Near Local School

On January 15, 2026, at approximately 6:30 AM, a 47-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing a pedestrian crosswalk on Estrada da Liberdade, in front of Escola Horácio Bento Gouveia. The impact left her complaining of pain in her coccyx. Emergency services quickly responded, and she was taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.

Bus Incident on Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro

Earlier, on January 14, 2026, two women were injured due to a sudden stop of a bus on Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro. A 77-year-old woman suffered a rib fracture, and a 63-year-old woman sustained a facial hematoma. Both were assisted by emergency teams and transferred to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
