The Banda Municipal de Santana marks a century of enriching Madeira's cultural life with music and civic engagement. Festivities include parades, a book launch, and official recognitions.

The Banda Municipal de Santana, a cultural cornerstone in the northern region of Madeira Island, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Founded on April 4, 1926, the band has been an integral part of the community, fostering musical traditions and contributing to cultural and civic life.

This milestone is being commemorated with a series of events, highlighting the band's long-standing service to the community. The celebrations kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony at the band's headquarters, followed by a parade leading to the Paços do Concelho. The main festivities included a solemn session in the Praça da Cidade, where a book commemorating the centennial was launched.

In recognition of its cultural impact, both the CDS-PP and the PSD political parties have submitted Votes of Congratulation in the Madeira Legislative Assembly. These votes acknowledge the band's role in preserving the region's musical heritage, offering musical education, and enhancing community life.

Throughout its century-long history, the Banda Municipal de Santana has been pivotal in organizing religious and civic events, concerts, and band gatherings across the island. Originally known as Fanfarra Recreio S, the band has evolved into a vital institution that continues to engage and entertain residents and visitors alike.

The band's centennial not only celebrates its historical achievements but also looks forward to continuing its mission of cultural enrichment and community engagement in Madeira.
