Incident Details

On January 8, 2026, a woman in her 50s lost control of her car at Serrado, Porto da Cruz, leading to a rollover accident. The vehicle hit a wall before coming to a stop. Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Machico Health Center for treatment.

In another incident on the same day, a man in his 80s experienced a cardiac arrest in the Lazareto area of Funchal. Emergency medical responders successfully resuscitated him, and he was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further care.

A previous accident on January 7 involved a collision between two vehicles at the entrance to the expressway in Machico. A 26-year-old woman suffered neck injuries and was also transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
