Man Loses Toes in Lawn Mowing Incident
On the afternoon of January 20, in the Lugar da Serra area of Tabua, a man in his thirties or forties suffered a severe injury while mowing his lawn. According to the Volunteer Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol, the individual slipped, causing his foot to get caught under the mower, resulting in the loss of three toes. He was promptly attended to and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.
Elderly Man Suffers Severe Injuries from Fall
Later that evening, emergency services, including the Emergency Medical Intervention and Rescue (EMIR) and local firefighters, responded to an incident at Largo da Fonte in Monte. A 63-year-old man, reportedly intoxicated, fell approximately 20 meters into a ravine. Rescued by bystanders, he sustained a serious head injury and multiple other wounds, necessitating urgent medical attention at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
Minor Injuries in Car Collision
The day prior, on January 19, another incident occurred involving a car accident near the Ribeira Brava fire station. The Volunteer Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol reported that a rear-end collision resulted in minor injuries to one individual, who was subsequently taken to the emergency department of the Ribeira Brava Health Center.
