Porto Moniz Approves Nearly €10 Million Budget for 2026

The municipality of Porto Moniz, located in the northern region of Madeira, has approved a budget of €9.96 million for the year 2026. This budget is almost identical to the previous year, with a marginal increase of €1,670.
The budget was approved during a municipal meeting on December 11th, garnering support from three elected officials of the Socialist Party (PS), while members of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition chose to abstain from voting.
Following the municipal meeting, the budget was also approved in the Municipal Assembly on December 15th, where it once again received votes in favor from Socialist Party members, with the PSD/CDS-PP coalition abstaining.
This decision reflects the municipality's focus on maintaining financial stability while continuing to address the needs of its residents and enhancing local infrastructure.
Porto Moniz is known for its natural beauty and popular tourist attractions, including the natural volcanic swimming pools. The budget allocation aims to support the ongoing development and promotion of these attractions to bolster tourism, a vital component of the local economy.
