To alleviate traffic, the PCP suggested the establishment of free parking facilities on the city outskirts, integrated with a reliable mini-bus network to transport citizens to the central areas efficiently. They also proposed a municipal school transport system to reduce traffic near schools during peak times.
Moreover, the PCP criticized the recent fare increase for public transport passes, which contrasts with the trend of free public transport adoption across Europe and mainland Portugal. They argued that Funchal residents should not be seen as second-class citizens compared to their mainland counterparts.

During the meeting, the PCP reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside the community to push for reduced parking meter fees, the implementation of free school transportation, and a public transport network that adequately serves the needs of Funchal's residents and workers.
“The transport system in Funchal should be free, just as it is in other parts of Portugal. Funchal's residents deserve equal treatment,” a PCP spokesperson stated.
