Paula Margarido, Regional Secretary for Inclusion, visited the João Carlos Abreu Association in Funchal, emphasizing its vital role in supporting vulnerable groups in Madeira.

Paula Margarido, the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Work, and Youth, recently visited the João Carlos Abreu Association in Funchal. This institution, recognized as a public utility entity in 2023, plays a crucial role in supporting vulnerable groups across Madeira.

The João Carlos Abreu Association, located in the parish of São Gonçalo, operates as a private social solidarity institution (IPSS). It offers support to children, young people, adults, and the elderly, addressing various vulnerabilities faced by these groups.

During her visit on April 6, 2026, Margarido praised the association's efforts and its positive impact on the community. The event was also attended by João Carlos Abreu, the institution's president, and the president of the São Gonçalo Parish Council.

The association's work is particularly important given Madeira's diverse social landscape, where providing targeted support to different demographic groups can significantly enhance community well-being.

Madeira, known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty, benefits from such organizations that not only support local residents but also enhance the island's appeal to tourists, demonstrating a community deeply committed to social welfare.
