Car Fire in Serra de Água
In the late afternoon, a vehicle caught fire on the expressway near Serra de Água, just before the Encumeada tunnel. The Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, by the time they arrived, the fire had been extinguished, minimizing potential damage and injuries. The fire was reported at approximately 18:30.
Rollover Near Hospital
Earlier in the morning, at around 5:30, a car rolled over near the roundabout by the hospital in Funchal. The driver, a man in his 30s, was able to exit the vehicle independently and was subsequently taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further evaluation. The Funchal Fire Department responded with three vehicles and 11 personnel to manage the incident.
Accident and Fire on Estrada do Lazareto
Another incident took place on Estrada do Lazareto, where a car veered off the road, collided with a wall, and caught fire. The driver sustained a head injury in the crash. Ten firefighters and two vehicles from the Madeira Volunteer Fire Brigade were deployed to handle the situation. The prompt response helped in managing the fire and providing necessary medical aid to the injured driver.
