Incident Overview

On the evening of April 13, 2026, a man in his 60s was assaulted on Rua da Carne Azeda in Funchal. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça by the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters. The authorities are investigating the motive behind the assault.

Earlier the same day, another tragic event unfolded in Machico. A man in his 80s was found deceased in a residence on Estrada Dom Manuel I. The Municipal Firefighters of Machico responded to the scene, but unfortunately, nothing could be done to save him.

Further Incidents

On April 12, 2026, a woman in her 80s was found dead in a home in Ribeira da Alforra, Câmara de Lobos. The discovery was made by the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters, who confirmed that the woman had already passed away upon their arrival.

In Machico, another alarming discovery was made on the same day. A man aged between 40 and 50 was found dead in a stream at Piquinho. His body was found with his head submerged in water, prompting the involvement of the PSP (Public Security Police) to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Additionally, on the night of April 11, a man in his 80s suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest at a residence in SĂŁo JoĂŁo, Funchal. Despite the emergency response team's efforts, the man could not be revived.
