On December 23, 2025, Madeira's brave firefighters were called to multiple emergency incidents, including a child's burn injury, a search for a missing woman, and a car fire.

On December 23, 2025, the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters were kept busy with a series of emergency incidents requiring prompt action across the island.

Child Suffers Burn Injury

At around 16:12, firefighters were dispatched to Caminho do Marques, Monte, where a 5-year-old girl suffered a burn on her hand after accidentally touching a heater. The incident caused the child to briefly lose consciousness due to shock. Fortunately, she was quickly attended to and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care.

Search for Missing Woman

Earlier that day, at approximately 1:20 AM, firefighters, in coordination with the Public Security Police (PSP), responded to a distress call from a concerned family member on Travessa da Estufa, Funchal. The relative reported that a woman had not been seen for several days. A window had to be forced open to enter the premises, but no one was found inside.

Car Fire near Funchal

In another incident occurring at 0:40 AM, the firefighters were mobilized to a car fire at the access ramp to the highway near the Luso Brasileira area in Funchal. Eight personnel and two vehicles were involved in extinguishing the blaze using an extinguisher. The quick response prevented further damage.

These incidents highlight the dedication and responsiveness of Madeira's emergency services, ensuring public safety and timely interventions in critical situations.
