On the afternoon of February 20, three separate assaults occurred in different areas of Funchal, mobilizing local emergency services. The first incident took place at approximately 15:40 near the Mercado dos Lavradores, where a man in his 70s sustained injuries to his arm. Later, at 17:30, another assault was reported on Rua do Marquês, close to the Funchal City Hall, involving a 53-year-old man. The final assault of the day happened at 18:50 on Caminho do Meio, with a man in his 40s suffering hand injuries. All victims were treated and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care.
Stabbing Incident
Earlier that day, at around 14:27, another violent episode unfolded on Caminho de São Roque, where a 67-year-old man was stabbed. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, and the victim was rushed to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment.
Severe Workplace Accident
In addition to the assaults, a serious workplace accident occurred earlier this month on Rua Vale da Ajuda. A worker in his 30s was critically injured after being struck by several sacks of cement, leaving him unconscious. He was promptly attended to and admitted to the hospital's emergency care unit.
