Motorbike Accident on Rua da Casa Branca

On January 16, 2026, at approximately 3:50 AM, the Funchal Fire Department was called to a motorbike accident on Rua da Casa Branca. A 32-year-old man sustained injuries, including a suspected leg fracture and abrasions. He was promptly attended to and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further care.

Pedestrian Hit on Estrada da Liberdade

Earlier, on January 15, 2026, at around 6:30 AM, a 47-year-old woman was struck while crossing a pedestrian crossing on Estrada da Liberdade, near Horácio Bento Gouveia School. The woman complained of pain in her coccyx and was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital after receiving initial treatment from the Funchal Fire Department.

Bus Incident on Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro

Furthermore, a bus incident occurred on January 14, 2026, when a sudden brake on Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro led to injuries for two female passengers. A 77-year-old suffered a rib fracture, while a 63-year-old developed a facial hematoma. Both were transferred to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for medical attention.

These incidents reflect ongoing safety challenges on Madeira's roads, prompting calls for improved infrastructure and awareness to prevent future occurrences.
