Road Accidents on the Rise
On January 14th, a significant accident occurred on Estrada dos Marmeleiros in Funchal between a motorcycle and a car. The 39-year-old motorcyclist sustained injuries to his spine, cervical region, and a knee, necessitating immediate medical attention. The 57-year-old female driver of the car experienced shock and was also taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for observation.
Earlier in Machico, a woman in her 60s was hit by a vehicle on Rua da Árvore. Fortunately, she only suffered minor injuries and was promptly treated at the Machico Health Center.
Workplace Incident in Cancela
In Cancela, a worker fell from a three-meter height in a warehouse, suffering head injuries and bleeding. Emergency Medical Rapid Intervention (EMIR) and local firefighters responded swiftly, transporting him to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
Health Emergencies in Funchal
An elderly man suffered a cardiac arrest at a business on Rua das Murças, Funchal. Thanks to rapid intervention by EMIR and local firefighters, he was resuscitated and taken to the hospital.
In another incident, a 51-year-old man was injured in a car collision on Rua Bela Santiago, Funchal. He was treated for neck pain at the hospital.
