Madeira GuideThe Captaincy of the Port of Funchal has issued a maritime warning for Madeira, citing strong sea agitation expected until January 13th.
The Captaincy of the Port of Funchal has updated its maritime warning for the Madeira archipelago, cautioning both locals and tourists about strong sea agitation expected to persist until 18:00 on January 13th. This warning is based on the latest forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to the IPMA, the winds will shift from a southwesterly direction, starting at a fresh breeze of 31 to 39 km/h, increasing to a very fresh breeze between 40 and 50 km/h, and eventually turning to a northwesterly direction. Visibility at sea is anticipated to be moderate to poor, improving to good to moderate as the conditions evolve.
The Captaincy advises all vessels in the region to exercise caution and stay informed about the ongoing weather updates. The advisory is part of a broader yellow alert issued for the region, highlighting the potential for hazardous sea conditions, including high waves and strong winds.
Madeira, known for its stunning landscapes and as a vibrant tourist destination, often experiences dynamic weather patterns, particularly during the winter months. Local authorities emphasize the importance of heeding these warnings to ensure safety on the waters surrounding the island.
