Madeira GuideA new book titled 'Mapa do Peito' has been introduced in Madeira as a comprehensive guide for those affected by breast cancer, providing support and insights.
On January 30, 2026, the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira hosted the unveiling of a groundbreaking book titled 'Mapa do Peito – A Compass for Those Living with Breast Cancer, Inside or Nearby'. Authored by psychologist Carole Neves from the Madeira Regional Branch of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC), this book aims to serve as a vital resource for individuals battling breast cancer and those supporting them.
The event, organized by LPCC-Madeira, took place at the IDEIA Space within the Assembly. It was attended by representatives from various sectors including Health, Social Solidarity, Citizenship, and Inclusion, along with a significant number of volunteers from the institution.
'Mapa do Peito' is designed to be a 'compass' for navigating the complex journey of breast cancer, providing information, emotional support, and practical guidance. With insights from healthcare professionals and personal stories, the book offers a comprehensive look at the challenges and triumphs associated with the disease.
This initiative is part of a larger effort by LPCC-Madeira to enhance awareness and support for breast cancer patients and their families. The book is expected to be a valuable tool not only for the residents of Madeira but also for those visiting the island who may be affected by or interested in breast cancer support and awareness.
