Madeira GuideA significant workshop in Madeira focused on promoting circularity in the regional textile industry, identifying key players, dynamics, and opportunities for sustainable growth.
The Madeira Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACIF) and the Regional Directorate of Environment and Sea recently hosted two sessions of the "Workshop on Promoting Regional Circularity of Textiles." Held as part of the TEXTIL project, these sessions aimed to map and characterize the textile ecosystem in Madeira, identifying key stakeholders, dynamics, and value chains associated with the industry.
The workshop sessions highlighted the importance of fostering sustainable practices within the textile industry on the island. Participants discussed the challenges and opportunities present in implementing circular economy principles, which focus on reducing waste and maximizing resource use across the entire supply chain.
Through detailed assessments, the sessions provided a comprehensive understanding of the current state of Madeira's textile sector. This understanding is crucial for devising strategies that can help transition towards a more sustainable and circular textile industry, benefiting both the local economy and the environment.
