Luxury Cruise Line 'Aman at Sea' to Visit Madeira in 2028

In a significant development for Madeira's tourism sector, the luxury cruise line 'Aman at Sea' has announced plans to include the island in its itinerary starting in 2028. This was disclosed during the recent 68th MedCruise General Assembly held in Palermo, Italy.

The MedCruise assembly brought together over 20 cruise companies, navigation agents, and more than 50 port authorities from the Mediterranean and nearby Atlantic regions. It marked the 30th anniversary of MedCruise, an association representing over 160 ports across 22 countries.

Madeira, a member of MedCruise since 2012, used the event to strengthen ties with existing cruise partners and introduce itself to new companies. The island is part of the Cruise Atlantic Islands, which includes the Canaries, Azores, and Cape Verde, accounting for 11% of MedCruise's cruise movements.

Patrícia Bairrada, the commercial director of the Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), expressed satisfaction with the meetings held during the assembly. "The feedback from the companies already visiting Madeira was excellent, and they are eager to expand their offerings with new and diverse shore excursions," she noted.

Aman at Sea, operating in the premium segment, expressed its interest in Madeira as a destination, which is a testament to the island's increasing appeal among luxury travelers. The company plans to make its first stop in Madeira in 2028, further boosting the island's profile as a top-tier cruise destination.

Founded in 1996, MedCruise's primary goal is to promote the cruise industry and foster cooperation among its members. Madeira's inclusion in such events underscores its strategic importance in the cruise tourism sector.
