The luxury cruise company 'Aman at Sea' is set to include Madeira in its itinerary starting 2028, promising a boost to the local tourism industry.

In a significant development for Madeira's tourism sector, the luxury cruise line 'Aman at Sea' has announced plans to include the island in its itinerary beginning in 2028. This announcement was made following the 68th General Assembly of MedCruise held in Palermo, Italy, where Madeira's port authorities actively participated.

The MedCruise assembly, celebrating its 30th anniversary, brought together over 20 cruise companies and numerous port authorities from the Mediterranean and nearby Atlantic regions. The event served as a platform for Madeira to strengthen ties with existing partners and attract new business opportunities.

According to Patrícia Bairrada, the commercial director of the Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), the meetings were notably productive. "We received excellent feedback from companies already operating in Funchal and discussed potential collaborations with new entrants like 'Aman at Sea'," she stated.

Founded in 1996, MedCruise is a prominent association representing over 160 ports from 22 countries. Madeira has been a member since 2012 and contributes significantly to the Cruise Atlantic Islands group, which also includes the Canary Islands, Azores, and Cape Verde. This group accounts for 11% of cruise movements within MedCruise.

The inclusion of 'Aman at Sea' in Madeira's cruise offerings is expected to enhance the island's appeal as a premium tourist destination. The cruise line, known for its luxurious experiences, plans to offer diverse and exclusive onshore excursions, further enriching the visitor experience.
