In the heart of Madeira, the Jardim da Serra hosts a spectacular Mega Nativity Scene that has captured the attention of locals and tourists alike. Spanning an impressive 800 square meters, this display is not just a celebration of the festive season but also a vivid portrayal of Madeira's rich cultural heritage.
António Fernandes, the mastermind behind this grand setup, shared insights into the project, highlighting its unique features, including live animals and intricate details that bring the display to life. "We receive an average of 30,000 visitors each year," Fernandes remarked, underscoring the event's popularity.
A Decade of Tradition
This year marks the 10th edition of the Mega Nativity Scene, a tradition that has grown from a small community initiative into a significant cultural event. Initially organized by the Associação Cultural e Recreativa Flor da Serra, the project has since evolved, driven by the community's passion and dedication.
The scene is set within a two-story garage, featuring a linear path of approximately 230 meters. This setup allows visitors to immerse themselves in the detailed representations of traditional Madeiran life, offering a unique glimpse into the island's past.

Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Regional Government, praised the nativity scene for its cultural significance.
