IVBAM is set to launch 'Discover the Art of Wool: Practical Workshop on Opening, Carding, and Spinning' starting January 27, aimed at promoting traditional skills.

The Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira (IVBAM) is launching a new initiative to celebrate and preserve traditional wool processing skills. The 'Discover the Art of Wool: Practical Workshop on Opening, Carding, and Spinning' will commence on January 27, with sessions extending through February, March, and April.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to value traditional craftsmanship and foster direct interaction with the artisanal processes involved in wool transformation. The workshops will be hosted by the Regional Secretariat of Agriculture and Fisheries, which oversees the sector.

The practical workshops are designed to engage participants in hands-on learning about the ancient and intricate processes of wool preparation. These sessions aim to deepen understanding and appreciation of Madeira's rich cultural heritage.

Madeira, known for its vibrant traditions and crafts, sees this initiative as a way to sustain and promote its unique cultural identity. For residents and tourists alike, this offers a rare opportunity to participate in and learn about a traditional craft that has been a part of the island's history for generations.
