The Funchal City Council recently concluded a public consultation period for the Municipal Regulation of Local Accommodation Management, attracting significant community engagement. Between April 26 and May 11, 2026, 146 individuals participated, contributing suggestions and observations to shape the future of local accommodation management.

This consultation aimed to gather input from both local residents and foreign citizens residing in Madeira. The process allowed participants to submit their contributions either online or in person at the Municipality's office, located on Rua 5 de Outubro. The initiative was designed to democratize the regulatory process, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered.

Community Engagement

A notable aspect of this consultation was the detailed and well-developed proposals submitted by participants. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the municipality's proactive approach in involving the public in regulatory discussions.

The majority of participants were local residents, but the presence of foreign contributors highlighted the international community's investment in local matters. This diverse involvement underscores Funchal's cosmopolitan nature and the importance of inclusive governance.
