The Night Market in Funchal once again brings together thousands, celebrating Madeiran culture and Christmas with joy and tradition.

The Night Market, a cherished tradition in Funchal, Madeira, has once again turned the city's downtown into a festive hub, drawing thousands of participants, including locals, tourists, and returning emigrants. This annual event, which takes place just before Christmas, is a vibrant celebration of Madeiran culture and the holiday spirit.

The festivities began shortly after 7 PM, led by the Mayor of Funchal, Jorge Carvalho, accompanied by the city executive and a festive band. The event kicked off at the Rua Dr. Fernão de Ornelas, marking the official start of this beloved night.

Mayor Jorge Carvalho emphasized the importance of maintaining traditional activities that characterize this time of year. Despite the limited time for innovation, the city managed to uphold these traditions, providing conditions for an enjoyable Night Market for both residents and visitors.

The Night Market is not only about shopping but also about socializing and enjoying the cultural richness of Madeira. It offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to come together, enjoy local foods, music, and the company of others in the lively atmosphere of Funchal's decorated streets.

"We managed to maintain our tradition and provide everyone, both residents and visitors, the conditions for a great Night Market," said Jorge Carvalho, Mayor of Funchal.
