Today, the Port of Funchal on Madeira Island is abuzz with activity as it welcomes nearly 12,000 visitors. This Monday aligns with the tradition of being one of the busiest days during the cruise season, underscoring Madeira's growing importance as a tourist hub.

Approximately 11,755 individuals, including 9,061 passengers, are expected to pass through the Gare Marítima da Madeira. The day commenced with the arrival of the cruise ship 'AIDAcosma', which docked at 6:00 AM. Coming from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the AIDAcosma brought 5,881 passengers and 1,435 crew members.

Shortly after, the 'Azura' cruise ship entered the port carrying 4,193 individuals, composed of 3,040 passengers and 1,153 crew members. Both ships are part of the Cruise Atlantic Islands itinerary, a popular route among tourists seeking to explore the Canary Islands and Madeira.

Adding to the vibrant scene at the port is the presence of the 'Wind Star', a premium cruise ship, which had arrived from La Gomera with 140 passengers and 106 crew. The Wind Star is also navigating the Cruise Atlantic Islands route and is scheduled to depart later today towards Lanzarote.

This influx of visitors not only boosts the local economy but also highlights Funchal's strategic location and appeal as a key stopover for major cruise lines. The continuous flow of tourists contributes significantly to Madeira's tourism sector, which remains a vital part of the island's economy.
