On February 19, 2026, the port of Funchal on Madeira Island became a vibrant hub of activity as it welcomed 6,500 passengers arriving aboard two prominent cruise ships: Mein Schiff 7 and Marella Explorer 2. These vessels brought a wave of tourists eager to explore the island's scenic beauty and cultural richness.
The Mein Schiff 7 was the first to arrive, docking at 6:00 AM. Managed by JFM Shipping, it carried 2,941 passengers and 1,039 crew members. This ship embarked from Santa Cruz de La Palma and is on a 14-day Cruise Atlantic Islands (CAI) itinerary. After Madeira, it will continue its journey to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Marella Explorer 2 followed, arriving at 8:00 AM from Santa Cruz de La Palma as well. With 1,741 passengers and 762 crew members, this ship is on a week-long CAI route, also visiting Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Funchal, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote.
