On December 27, 2025, the Port of Funchal experienced a bustling atmosphere as over six thousand people, including passengers and crew members, arrived via cruise ships. This surge in visitors underscores Madeira's growing appeal as a prime destination in the Atlantic.
The MSC Musica docked at the port early Saturday morning, joining the Marella Explorer 2 already anchored there. Together, these ships brought a combined total of 6,863 visitors. The MSC Musica alone accounted for 2,669 passengers and 938 crew members.
The Marella Explorer 2, bringing in 1,752 passengers and 754 crew members, had been in port since the previous day. Both ships are part of the Cruise Atlantic Islands itinerary, which includes stops at various Canary Islands and Madeira, highlighting the region's interconnected cruising network.
In addition to these large cruise liners, the Santa Maria Manuela, a smaller sailing vessel, is navigating between Funchal and Porto Santo, adding to the maritime activity. The Costa Fortuna is also expected to arrive shortly, further contributing to the vibrant scene at the port.
