Funchal Port Bustles with Over Nine Thousand Visitors

On December 27, 2025, Funchal Port on Madeira Island became a bustling hub of activity as it welcomed over 9,200 people. This influx included passengers and crew from several cruise ships, marking a busy day for the island's tourism sector.
The MSC Musica arrived from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 8:00 AM with 2,669 passengers and 938 crew members. It performed a partial turnaround involving 687 passengers before departing for Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 5:00 PM. This visit was managed by JFM Shipping and is part of the Cruise Atlantic Islands itinerary.
Meanwhile, the Marella Explorer 2, which had arrived from Lanzarote the previous day, remained docked with 1,752 passengers and 754 crew. Managed by AgĂȘncia Ferraz, it was also on the Cruise Atlantic Islands route, set to leave for Santa Cruz de La Palma at 6:00 PM.
The port also saw the presence of the Santa Maria Manuela, a traditional Portuguese sailing ship, navigating between Funchal and Porto Santo throughout the day.
Adding to the maritime activity, the Costa Fortuna is scheduled to dock at Funchal on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 7:00 AM. It will stay for a 10-hour stopover before heading to Tenerife, managed by Blatas.
This high level of activity underscores the importance of Funchal Port as a critical entry point for tourists, offering them a gateway to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Madeira.
