On December 27, 2025, the Port of Funchal was a hive of activity with over six thousand visitors flocking to Madeira. The day saw the arrival of the MSC Musica, joining the Marella Explorer 2 at the bustling Cruise Terminal, marking a significant surge in maritime traffic for the island.
The MSC Musica, having arrived at 8:00 AM from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, brought along 2,669 passengers and 938 crew members. The ship's visit involved a partial turnaround, with 351 passengers boarding and 366 disembarking. This operation was handled by JFM Shipping, highlighting the importance of cruise tourism for Madeira's economy.
Meanwhile, the Marella Explorer 2, which had anchored in Funchal a day earlier from Lanzarote, carried 1,752 passengers and 754 crew members. Both vessels are part of the Cruise Atlantic Islands itinerary, which includes stops in the Canary Islands and Madeira, underscoring the strategic maritime routes in the region.
In addition to these cruise liners, the Santa Maria Manuela, a sailing ship, was also navigating between Funchal and Porto Santo, contributing to the vibrant maritime scene at the port.
