The Funchal Municipality has launched an anti-bullying initiative as part of its 'Educa-te' program, aiming to raise awareness and prevent bullying among school students.

The Câmara Municipal do Funchal (CMF) has initiated a series of sessions aimed at combating and preventing bullying in schools, launched at the Escola Profissional Atlântico. This initiative forms part of the municipal program 'Educa-te,' which started in the academic year 2023/2024 and is designed to educate and empower young people.

The 'Educa-te' program is an integral part of the city's youth policies and the Municipal Educational Project (PEM). The first session, named 'VĂŞ se Atinas,' focuses specifically on bullying, using a non-formal educational format to engage students effectively.

Helena Leal, the councilor responsible for Education and Youth, emphasized the importance of education in fighting bullying. She stated that prevention and empowering youth to recognize and reject violence are key to the initiative's success.

The program is designed to create more aware, safe, and supportive educational communities. Schools, associations, and interested youth are encouraged to participate by contacting the Youth Division.

"The fight against bullying is primarily about education, prevention, and equipping young people to recognize and reject violent behaviors," said Helena Leal.
