Funchal Launches Support Program for School Materials Starting July 6
Madeira GuideThe Municipality of Funchal opens applications for its support program for school materials and textbooks for the 2026/2027 academic year, aiming to assist local families in accessing educational resources.
The Municipality of Funchal is set to open applications for its educational support program on July 6, 2026. This initiative, aimed at assisting families with school material and textbook costs, will run until October 30, 2026. The program targets students enrolled in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles of basic education who have lived in the Funchal area for over a year.
Eligible families will receive a Vale Educação, a voucher linked to the Cartão do Munícipe, which can be used in participating stores to purchase school materials. This voucher is part of the municipality's efforts to complement the existing support provided by the Regional Government, enhancing educational access and equity.
For students in the 1st cycle who already receive regional government support for textbooks, the voucher is valued at 30 euros. Those not covered by this support receive a 60-euro voucher. In the 2nd and 3rd cycles, students enrolled in the Digital Textbooks program receive a 30-euro voucher, while those outside the program receive between 50 and 100 euros, depending on their eligibility for additional social support.
The application process is entirely online via the platform cmfonline.funchal.pt, ensuring accessibility for all residents. Vouchers issued under this program will remain valid until December 31, 2026.
Helena Leal, the councilor responsible for education, emphasized that this support program underscores the municipality's commitment to promoting equal educational opportunities. By lessening the financial burden on families, Funchal aims to foster a more inclusive learning environment.
