This traditional event, held annually on the night of December 23rd, draws thousands of locals and tourists to the heart of the city. The festivities are centered around the Mercado dos Lavradores and spread across the Central Square and the waterfront.
The Night of the Market is not just a shopping event but a cultural celebration. People flock to the market to buy fresh produce and last-minute Christmas gifts, while enjoying traditional music and street performances. Logistics and Cleanliness
To manage the influx of visitors and maintain cleanliness, the Funchal City Council has deployed a special cleaning operation.
