Funchal Allocates €277,000 to Support Volunteer Firefighters

In a decisive move to bolster emergency response capabilities, the Funchal City Council has agreed to allocate €277,000 to the Associação de Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses. This decision was made during a council meeting held on May 14, 2026, focusing on various community support initiatives.

The financial aid aims to enhance the operational efficiency of the volunteer firefighters, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle emergencies across Madeira Island. This support underscores the council's commitment to public safety and community welfare.

Apart from the funding for the firefighters, the council also approved the expropriation of a building on Rua da Infância – Campo da Barca.
