Starting Monday, June 15, fuel prices in Madeira will adjust with gasoline prices decreasing and diesel prices increasing slightly. Here's what you need to know.

Starting from midnight on Monday, June 15, Madeira will experience changes in fuel prices that may interest both residents and tourists. These adjustments reflect the ongoing fluctuations in global oil prices and local economic policies.

Gasoline Price Reduction

The price of super unleaded 95-octane gasoline will see a reduction of 1.9 cents per liter. This means the price will drop from €1.810 to €1.791. Such a decrease is a part of the regular adjustments made by the local government, which aims to provide some relief to consumers amidst varying global oil prices.

Diesel Price Increase

Conversely, the price of road diesel will witness an increase of 2 cents, setting the new price at €1.759 per liter, up from €1.739. Additionally, marked diesel, often used in agriculture and fishing, will increase by 1.8 cents per liter, moving from €1.299 to €1.317.

Regional Context

Despite these adjustments, Madeira continues to maintain some of the most competitive fuel prices compared to other regions in Portugal. The local government regularly reviews these prices to ensure they remain fair and reflective of the broader economic climate.

Impact on Residents and Tourists

For residents, these price changes may influence daily commuting costs. Tourists visiting Madeira, known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, might also find these adjustments impacting their travel budgets, particularly those who opt for car rentals during their stay.
