Francisco Gomes Advocates for Better Pay and Recognition for Private Security Guards

Francisco Gomes, a deputy from the Chega party, has made a strong call for the urgent and effective valorization of private security guards in Madeira. He emphasized the critical role these professionals play in maintaining public safety and security, yet they remain undervalued and poorly compensated.

In a statement to the press, Gomes highlighted the concerning fact that many security guards earn a gross salary of around 960 euros, translating to approximately 830 euros net. This salary is supplemented only by a meal allowance provided on a card, with no additional risk allowance despite the nature of their work, which often involves daily exposure to potentially dangerous situations.

Gomes criticized the state for ignoring the essential contributions of these workers, who he believes are a crucial component of the security framework within Madeira. He described the current situation as unacceptable, advocating for immediate reforms to ensure fair compensation and recognition.
