Young Couple Injured in Road Accident

A young couple in their twenties was injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the Estrada de Santa Rita, near the site of the new hospital in Funchal. The accident occurred on January 5, 2026, at approximately 20:32. Emergency personnel from the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal were quick to arrive at the scene, providing immediate medical attention. The female sustained a shoulder injury, while the male suffered a leg injury. Both were transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.

Gas Leak in Apartment

Earlier that day, a gas leak was reported in an apartment on the second floor of a building located on Rua da Bolívia in the Bairro da Nazaré. Responding swiftly, the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal dispatched two vehicles to manage the situation. The prompt action helped avert any potential danger posed by the gas leak.

Elderly Man Recovers After Fainting in Supermarket

In a separate incident on January 4, 2026, an elderly man in his eighties fainted at a supermarket located in the Fórum Madeira shopping center. Emergency services were once again called to action, ensuring the man regained consciousness and was subsequently taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for evaluation.
